The Co-op Bookshop sponsors ‘Lifelong Learning’ through U3A
The Co-op Bookshop, a major retailer of education books and resources, has offered a partnership arrangement to the Network, its member U3As and individual members, to promote lifelong learning.
The Co-op Bookshop is an Australian. membership-based not-for-profit co-operative, with over 40 stores around the country and one of the largest online bookshops at www.coop-bookshop.com.au
The Co-op has offered Gift Vouchers worth $100 per month to the Network, which will be used to assist tutors, courses and U3A ‘students’ in various ways.
U3A members, who have previously been or become Members of the Co-op, will be able to purchase books at Member Price – including 20% off the RRP on the Weekly Top 10.
If you think you may be a Co-op Member from your student days, you can check your membership at any Co-op Bookshop or by emailing members@coop-bookshop.com.au. Any other U3A member can join the Co-op for a one-off joining fee of $20. You can join in-store or online through the Co-op Online where you can also download the application form
The Co-op Bookshop also offers corporate accounts and membership for individual U3A Groups.
Information about these can be obtained from the Business Manager, Maren Sims – marens@coop-bookshop.com.au
Maren also advises that regional U3A groups in locations without a bookshop, can be kept informed of what’s new via a special U3A newsletter – more details on this will be available soon. Members can order online, by fax or by post.
The Network Committee is delighted with this partnership arrangement., and is considering ways of distributing the Gift Vouchers to assist tutors and course co-ordinators, as well as to encourage participation by U3A members in U3A activities.
